Books and podcasts about intimacy and desire

Media

Sometimes a book or a podcast says more than I can get across in a conversation. So much beautiful work has been made about intimacy and desire, and it helps to find words for what you feel, especially when it is something you never talk about at home. On these pages I gather what moved me and what I got something out of myself.

Think of it as a small shelf of favorites. Not a required list, not homework. Just the books I read in one sitting and the podcasts I rewound because one line stayed with me.

Why do I share this? Because the subject I work with every day still gets tucked away in silence. A good story breaks that open. It shows you that your desire is normal, that other people feel the very same thing, and that there is language for things you may never have had a word for. That is a gift.

The lovely part of reading and listening is that it belongs to you alone. You discover something at your own pace, in your own bed, with nobody watching. Plenty of women start here before they ever dare to say any of it out loud. A book asks no questions back, and that makes it a safe first step.

You will not find a ranking here, and nothing on this shelf is trying to sell you anything. I add a title when it earns its place, when it named something I had only ever felt, or when it changed how I sit with a woman across from me. Some of these books are old and some came out last year. What they share is that they take desire seriously without turning it into a lecture.

If any of this is new to you, start wherever your curiosity pulls. Read a chapter on the train, or keep the tab open for a quiet evening when the house is finally still. There is no wrong order and no test at the end. The point is simply to feel a little less alone with what you want, and to walk into your next real conversation already knowing the words for it.

Here I collect what moves me and what I recommend. Books to read and podcasts to hear, and above all the thoughts that reach past a single evening and sometimes stay with you for weeks.
