Businesslike, and easy for exactly that reason

Hesse revolves largely around Frankfurt, and Frankfurt revolves around business. So there is a constant flow of people who do not live here: bankers, trade-fair visitors, consultants, people who stay two nights and are gone again. A hotel is completely neutral ground, and no one blinks at a guest who checks in alone.

For women who worry about being seen, that is a real advantage. In this state anonymity is simply part of the infrastructure.

Three very different cities

Frankfurt is the only German city with a real skyline, and at the same time far greener and more easy-going than its reputation. Wiesbaden is a spa town: broadly laid out, stately, with thermal baths and a casino, and a pace a notch slower. Kassel sits in the north by the forests, has the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe with its astonishing water display, and is the city of the documenta.

If you want something longer, all three put you quickly into green: the Taunus, the Rheingau with its vineyard slopes, or the Reinhardswald near Kassel.

Distance and planning

Frankfurt is about five hours’ drive from Amsterdam, Wiesbaden similar, Kassel a little less. That is too far for one evening and just right for a night or two days. Plan a few weeks ahead.

Travel costs match the distance and you know them beforehand. Nothing is added afterward, and there are no surcharges for the evening, the night, the weekend or a public holiday.

Which language

German, English or Dutch. In Frankfurt English works everywhere, given how international the city is. Elsewhere in the state German is handier, and I speak it fine.

Who I come here for

For women who are here for work, often far from home, and notice that a hotel room gets very empty after a while. Also for women who are married and have not been touched the way they would want for years. For those who lost their husband. Just as much for women whose diary has nothing in it for themselves.

There is no organisation behind me: no catalogue of gentlemen, no agent who relays your wishes, no client file. On the other side sits the person you actually meet later.

And it is nothing where you have to prove anything. Your body does not have to look like anything, your age is no obstacle, and what you would like you do not have to defend here.

How it works

A message with where you are, roughly what you are looking for and which period you have in mind. Within twenty-four hours you hear something.

After that we talk on until it feels right for you: texting, calling, or both. On the day itself we take plenty of time for the start, and you set the pace.

Discretion in practice

I do this without people around me. No agency behind me, no colleague reading along, no records where your name ends up. Our messages I delete once they are no longer needed.

At a hotel I come in as an ordinary guest, and in this state that catches no one’s eye. No flowers, no greeting that turns the lobby’s head. If you run into someone you know, I am whoever you say I am at that moment.

How a first date goes

First a few messages back and forth. I ask questions, you ask questions, and at some point you feel whether this suits you. Calling is fine.

When the time comes, we start slowly. For nearly everyone that takes longer than expected beforehand, and everything after it gets easier for it.

What comes after, you decide; I push nothing on my own.

Changing your mind is allowed

Halfway too, and even if you have made a journey for it. Nothing wrong with it, and I do not lie awake over it.

A date often runs differently from how you pictured it in advance. Sometimes it turns calmer, sometimes not. I have no preference for the direction, only for how you look back on it.
