Cervical orgasm

The orgasm that starts deep inside, along a nerve pathway most people have never heard of.

What is a cervical orgasm?

A cervical orgasm is an orgasm that comes from pressure on or stimulation of the cervix, deep inside the vagina. It reaches the brain partly along its own nerve pathway. Not every woman feels it, and with little arousal that deep stimulation can actually hurt.

Also calledcervix orgasm
Where it startsthe cervix, deep at the back of the vagina
The nerve pathwaypartly via the vagus nerve, which bypasses the spinal cord
Applies tosome women; far from everyone feels it
Main caveatwith low arousal, deep stimulation can hurt instead of feel good

How does a cervical orgasm work?

A cervical orgasm works through a nerve route of its own. Where most sensations run through the spinal cord, the cervix has an extra path, and that is the remarkable part. According to O&G Magazine, the vagus nerve can “offer a pathway that bypasses the spinal cord” and can trigger an orgasm. That is not merely a theory. The same article points to research in which women with a completely severed spinal cord still responded to stimulation of the vagina and cervix. So the signal reaches the brain by a different road than usual.

Who does a cervical orgasm work for?

Not every woman feels a cervical orgasm. For those it does work for, it tends to be a deeper, slower orgasm than a clitoral one, more a wave than a peak. In a survey, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America found that only 0.3% of participants liked cervical stimulation best, while 16.3% did get pleasant feelings from it.

With low arousal, deep pressure often feels uncomfortable rather than good. So during intimate togetherness I build up slowly and never chase a particular spot, because arousal comes first and the rest follows on its own, or it does not. If deep stimulation hurts every time, that is not something to practice away. It is a reason to raise it with your doctor. Conditions like endometriosis can be behind it.
