Primal hunter
The role that looks like letting go and in reality takes the most control of the two.
What is a primal hunter?
Primal hunter is the hunting role in primal play: the one who chases, grabs, and holds on. There is no Dutch name for it; the scene uses the English word, sometimes shortened to hunter. The word also appears in the archetype list of the BDSM test, opposite primal prey.

What the role involves
A hunter steers not with words but with his body. Where a dominant gives an order and waits for it to be carried out, a hunter simply grabs hold, and the answer he expects is resistance, not obedience.
That makes the role harder than it looks. You have to be able to go in fully and at the same time keep tracking four things: where her head is in relation to the wall, how much weight is on her wrist, whether that screaming is still part of the game, and whether the agreed hand signal has come. Anyone who cannot hold those side by side cannot play this role.
What else makes the role hard is that there is nothing to learn. With bondage there is technique, with impact play there is a tool that measures the blow out for you, and with both you can practice on someone standing still. Here there is none of that. Everything you add in intensity, you add with your own body, against someone who moves and pushes back, and the only brake there is in those twenty minutes is you.
Why people choose this role
Strength is welcome here instead of something to hold in. There is no technique to master with this role and no protocol to carry out neatly; there is someone across from you pushing back, and that is what it is about.
That behavior, meanwhile, is not rare. In the study by Herbenick and colleagues, 39.6 percent of men said they had once pulled a partner’s hair, 33.1 percent had once bitten one, and light slaps on the buttocks, at 53.0 percent, were more common still.
This role forgives no sloppiness. Anyone who does not notice himself that he is biting harder than agreed does not belong on this side in primal play.
