What is a companionship service?
A companionship service is a paid date where presence and attention are the product, with or without sex. You rent someone’s time to be seen and heard: talking, sharing a meal, closeness. What sets it apart from a classic escort booking is that the company itself is the point, not the wrapping around something else.

What a companionship service actually is
With a companionship service you pay for time and attention, not first and foremost for a sexual act. According to the encyclopedia, an escort agency provides someone’s company, with any sex arranged separately between you and the person you meet. In Temporarily Yours (2007), sociologist Elizabeth Bernstein showed that the sex trade increasingly sells not an act but an experience of real connection. That is exactly what a companionship service is: the product is the attention, and sex can be part of it.
Why people look for this
It’s rarely about sex itself, since sex is easier to come by than attention. It lives in a few hours where someone is really with you and you owe nothing back. If you haven’t been touched in a long time, or you’ve just ended up on your own, that is the thing worth having.
It offers no more than an evening. A companionship service won’t patch loneliness that runs deeper. The boundary that makes it safe is the same one that keeps it temporary.
