Closer than the map suggests

Flevoland feels far on paper, but Almere is half an hour from Amsterdam and Lelystad three quarters. That makes this one of the easiest provinces to plan something in, at short notice and on a weekday too.

What also makes this province pleasant is the space. Wide streets, plenty of parking, neighbourhoods where not everyone knows everyone because half of Flevoland came from somewhere else. For discretion that’s an advantage you don’t get in an old village centre.

The places I come to

Almere first of all. A city of a good two hundred thousand people, young, mixed and quick to reach. Lelystad, with the Oostvaardersplassen on its edge and Batavia Stad. Dronten, Emmeloord and the villages in the Noordoostpolder. Urk and Zeewolde belong to it too.

What we can do together

The Oostvaardersplassen, where with a bit of luck you’ll see konik horses and white-tailed eagles and where the horizon does all the work. The coast of the Markermeer or the IJsselmeer, with dikes where the wind drowns out your conversation for you. The Natuurpark Lelystad. Or the other way: Almere Centrum, where there’s enough to eat and drink without it turning into an occasion.

If you’d rather sit somewhere quiet straight away, that’s just as much a beginning. I have no programme and nothing has to be worked through.

Who I come to Flevoland for

A lot of people in this province once moved here for a house, a job or a fresh start. I hear that back too: women who live here but have their old network elsewhere, and who notice the contact has thinned out.

Beyond that the familiar stories. Women who are married and haven’t been touched the way they’d want for years. Women who’ve just divorced and wonder whether they’ve lost the knack. You haven’t. Widows, in whom grief and longing run through one another. Women who have never experienced anything and think it’s too late for that. It isn’t.

Where we meet

Home is often easier here than elsewhere, precisely because the neighbourhoods are spaciously laid out and there’s less peering over the fence. I arrive discreetly: no flowers, no loud greeting, and I park where you want me to.

Prefer a hotel? That’s fine too. There are options in Almere and Lelystad, and Amsterdam is half an hour away if you’d rather be entirely outside your own surroundings.

How it goes

It starts with a message: where you are, roughly what you’re looking for, and when you’d want. You don’t have to give it more than two sentences. You don’t have to write a letter and there’s no right or wrong answer.

You’ll hear from me within a day. After that we talk on until it’s right for you: by app, by phone, or first a coffee with nothing having to come of it. That last one happens regularly and it’s a fine way to begin.

Before anything is set it’s clear what we do and what the figure is, travel costs included. Nothing is added later. There are no surcharges for the evening, the night, the weekend or public holidays, and booking as a couple costs no extra.

What you can expect from me

On time, well turned out, no hurry. I listen without steering anywhere and nothing throws me, whatever you tell or ask. How fast or slow it goes, you decide, from start to finish. I share this with no one, even as time passes.

Doubts I often hear

“Do you really pay for this?” Yes, and there’s nothing strange about it. You pay for time and attention from someone who takes the work seriously. Filling those hours is entirely up to you.

“Aren’t I too old for this?” No, not at all. The ages run from the early twenties to well into the seventies, and the women over fifty are far from a minority.

“Can I break it off if I want?” Always. That’s no failure and no problem. A hassle least of all.
