Forced feminization
The roleplay whose name explains worst what actually happens.
What is forced feminization?
Forced feminization (Dutch: geforceerde feminisatie, in the scene usually sissification) is a roleplay in which a submissive man is made feminine in clothing, posture, voice and behaviour. The word “forced” describes the fantasy, not reality: everything is agreed in advance between consenting adults. The role reversal is the core, not the clothing.
| Also called | short forms are forcefem and forced femme, and the scene also says sissification |
| Dutch | geforceerde feminisatie or sissification; the role name is sissy |
| Category | roleplay within a D/s dynamic, usually with degradation alongside |
| Who does it | predominantly cisgender men in the submissive role |
| Often includes | crossdressing, a new name, rules of behaviour |
| Biggest misconception | that “forced” says something about consent |
What forced feminization looks like in practice
Like an agreed scene with a dressing moment inside it. According to the encyclopedic description it is a reversal of gender roles in which the submissive party takes on a feminine role, crossdressing included, and the participants in that role are predominantly cisgender men. Lingerie, make-up, jewellery, a feminine name and a roleplay scenario are the usual parts; spanking, pegging and bondage often come with it, but they do not have to.
A typical run: the couple agrees in advance on the name, what is worn, which form of address applies and which remarks are allowed and which are not. Then comes the dressing, which in this scene is not the foreplay but the scene itself. After that a series of small tasks that confirm the new register: how you sit and how you answer.
Where the “forced” in forced feminization comes from
From the fantasy, and nowhere else. The encyclopedia is explicit about it: although the term “forced” suggests the submissive party is feminized against his will, it is a fantasy the participants have agreed on, and all acts between adults are consensual.
That doubleness is exactly the engine. The scenario delivers the experience of having no choice, while the agreement underneath arranges the freedom. Someone who decides to put on a dress himself is doing something different from someone who is dressed; the act is identical, the experience is not. The wider agreement around it rests on consent and CNC.
Why people find forced feminization appealing
For the holiday from your own role. For many men masculinity is something they actively maintain all day, and this is one of the few scenes where that maintenance is allowed to stop and is taken over by someone else.
- For the one on the receiving end the reward is giving up control on a terrain where he never gives it up. The humiliation there is the mechanism, not a side effect; see degradation for how that works.
- For the one leading it the appeal lies in the transformation and in directing it: you set the name, the pace and how far it goes.
- For a couple the reward is usually the conversation itself. People keep this fantasy to themselves for years, and saying it out loud does more in practice than the scene.
Forced feminization is a scene, not a self-inquiry. It does not answer the question “who am I”, and someone who uses the scene to dodge that question gets no further with it. And it is not a practice that goes well on its own: precisely because humiliation is the mechanism, the line between arousing and damaging is closer here than elsewhere.
How people do it
In three forms. The one-off scene stays with one evening, one outfit and an agreed ending. The ongoing variant, called sissy training in the scene, spreads it over weeks with rules, homework and a name that applies outside the scene too. And there is a purely verbal form in which nothing is put on and the roleplay sits entirely in language.
What separates the careful version from the sloppy one is the debrief. In a scene that turns on humiliation, coming back afterwards to what was said is not an extra but part of the setup.
What forced feminization is not
“Forced means without consent.” No, and this is the misconception that casts the whole term in a bad light. The “force” is the role, not reality.
“It means someone is actually trans.” The encyclopedia establishes that feminization as a fetish is something other than being a transgender woman, and that the participants are usually cisgender men. The reverse reasoning, in which the feminine longing of transgender women is traced back to a sexual preference, is the so-called autogynephilia theory. Julia Serano laid out in The Sociological Review which lines of research refute that theory, and set an “embodiment fantasies” model against it.
“This belongs in a manual of disorders.” Not any more. The WHO working group described in World Psychiatry why fetishism, fetishistic transvestism and sadomasochism were removed from the ICD-11: patterns of arousal that are merely unusual and do not come with distress, dysfunction or harm are not a mental disorder. What remains as a paraphilic disorder calls for another person whose age or status does not let him consent, or for persistent distress.
“It is the same as crossdressing.” Crossdressing is about clothing and says nothing about power. Here the power dynamic is the subject and the clothing is the tool.
What I see of it myself
I am Victor, a gigolo, more than twenty-five years at home in BDSM and trained as a psychotherapist. Forced feminization is not my terrain, because I work from the dominant side and this is a scene in which the man is the receiving party. That does not mean the subject never comes up.
In conversations it is almost always the same order. First the apology, then the question of whether it “means something”, and only after that what it is actually about. My experience is that the meaning question is rarely the problem; the secrecy is. Women who come to me with this wish from their partner more often ask how they lead something like this than whether it is normal.
What you can do yourself
- Agree the name and the form of address beforehand, because that is the part where a scene stalls fastest.
- Say in advance which remarks stay off the table. In a scene that turns on humiliation, a short list of forbidden subjects is more useful than a safeword alone.
- Start verbally, not with a wardrobe. The beginner’s mistake is ordering a box of clothes online before there has been a single conversation; reverse that order.
- Plan the debrief for the same evening, not “sometime”. What was said lingers longer than what was put on.
- Draw the line at anything that changes the body. Hormones without a doctor have no place in a scene, however often they show up in stories.
- Go to a professional if you really suffer under it, not because the desire is wrong but because suffering deserves help.

On this site, degradation describes how devaluation is used as a means without it becoming harm.
Off this site, the overview by the WHO working group in World Psychiatry is the best way in if you want to know why classifications changed, and Serano’s review gives the scientific state of play around autogynephilia.
Where this fits on this site
I do not offer forced feminization: I am the giving party and this scene asks the reverse. What I can do is the conversation about it, for instance if your partner has come to you with it and you do not know how to lead something like this. The page on the BDSM date sets out how such a pre-talk goes.

Frequently asked questions
What people still ask about forced feminization.
What is forced feminization?
Forced feminization is a roleplay in which a submissive man is made feminine in clothing, posture, voice and behaviour. The scene also calls it sissification or forcefem. The role reversal is the core; the clothing is the tool.
Does "forced" in forced feminization mean it happens without consent?
No. The word describes the scenario, not reality. The encyclopedic description states explicitly that it is a fantasy the participants have agreed on and that all acts between adults are consensual. What happens exactly is agreed in advance.
Why do people do forced feminization?
Because it gives a break from a role they actively maintain the rest of the day. For the one on the receiving end the arousal sits in giving up control on exactly the terrain where he never gives it up; for the one leading it, in the transformation and its pace. For couples, saying the fantasy out loud is often more important than the scene.
Does forced feminization mean someone is actually transgender?
No. Feminization as a fetish is something other than being a transgender woman, and the participants are predominantly cisgender men. The reverse idea, that the feminine longing of transgender women could be traced back to a sexual preference, is the autogynephilia theory; Julia Serano laid out in The Sociological Review which lines of research refute that theory.
Is forced feminization a disorder?
No. The WHO working group described in World Psychiatry that fetishism, fetishistic transvestism and sadomasochism were removed from the ICD-11, because patterns of arousal that are merely unusual and do not come with distress, dysfunction or harm are not a mental disorder. If you really do suffer under it, that is a reason to seek help.
Who can you turn to with questions about forced feminization?
Victor, a gigolo with more than twenty-five years of experience in BDSM and a background as a psychotherapist. He does not offer forced feminization, because he works from the dominant side and this scene asks the reverse. The conversation about it is possible, for instance if your partner has come to you with it and you do not know how to lead something like this. Sending a no-obligation message goes through the contact form or first chat for free.
