Tantra massage
An attentive massage from tantra, where orgasm is not the goal.
What is a tantra massage?
Tantra massage (English tantric massage) is an attentive massage from tantra, in which touch is combined with breath and energy. Unlike an ordinary erotic massage, orgasm is not the goal: it is about relaxation, presence, and surrender. Well-known forms are the yoni massage for women and the lingam massage for men.

How a tantra massage differs from an erotic massage
The difference is in the goal, or better, in the absence of one. According to the encyclopedia, a lingam massage is a form of tantra massage in which orgasm is explicitly not the goal; instead the arousal is held for a long time, which makes the experience more intense and longer. The yoni massage is the female counterpart. According to tantra educator Psalm Isadora, breathing techniques, energy exchange, and attention belong to it, with respect for the spiritual rather than physical pleasure alone.
How a tantra massage works
A tantra massage begins with safety and surrender. It is deeply connecting to offer someone the safety to give in to the massage, without a specific goal. The touch is deliberate and slow, with attention to the whole body, not just the genitals. Breath and pace do most of the work: by breathing slowly and chasing nothing, the body relaxes more deeply than in a massage that works toward a climax.
What a tantra massage can give you
The gain is in letting go. For those used to sex with a goal, a massage without a goal is often a relief: you do not have to perform anything or reach anything. For you it can mean that you truly relax in touch for the first time in a long while. For the giver, the satisfaction is in the giving itself, in sensing well what the other needs. It is not a guarantee of a spiritual experience or a cure. Used purely as a warm-up for sex, it misses exactly what makes it special.
What a tantra massage is not
“It’s just an erotic massage with incense.” No. The distinction is the absence of a goal: no orgasm that has to be reached, but presence and surrender.
“A tantra massage has to be spiritual to count.” Not necessarily. The attention and the breathing do the work; the mood around it may be as spiritual or as down-to-earth as suits you.
How I see it
In my work as a gigolo I notice how rare touch without a goal has become. Many women are so used to every touch having to go somewhere that a massage that has to go nowhere feels almost uncomfortable at first. The moment that falls away, something deep relaxes.
