Extension

What is an extension?

An extension (Dutch: verlenging) is expanding the booked time block on the spot, if you both want it and my schedule allows. You book a set amount of time, and sometimes you notice along the way that you want to stay together longer. Then you can extend, at an adjusted rate for the extra time.

How an extension works

Time is the unit, and you can buy more of it. With this kind of arrangement you pay, as the encyclopedia describes, for the time you spend together. So extending is nothing more than more of that same time. Sometimes more opens up the longer you are together, and that is exactly the moment when extending becomes appealing. Whether it is possible depends on the schedule: if nothing is booked right after, there is room, and otherwise there is not.

What an extension is not

“If it is nice, I am supposed to extend.” No. Extending is allowed, it is never required. It is an offer, not an expectation, and you decide for yourself whether you want it. If it is not possible, for whatever reason, that is fine and it changes nothing about the time you already had.

What I see of it myself

Sometimes a date goes so well that the time flies by and you are not ready to stop yet. As a gigolo I love it when that happens, and if my schedule allows, we simply extend. But I will never steer toward it, because that would spoil the ease that was just there. The initiative is yours. If you say nothing, we round off neatly at the agreed time, with the same care for the ending as for the rest.
