Anusballetjes
The word you use in an ordinary shop, and the side of the story that is about cleaning.
What are anusballetjes?
Anusballetjes is the everyday Dutch word for a string of beads on a cord that is inserted anally and pulled back out. It is the same object the scene calls anale kralen and the shop labels anal beads. Three names, one thing.

Why there are three names
The three words come from three worlds. “Anusballetjes” is the word used by people who are not in the scene: plain, descriptive and without jargon. “Anale kralen” is the translation that circulates in Dutch kink circles. “Anal beads” is on the box, because nearly all manufacturers are English-speaking. Whichever word you use, on an evening of intimate togetherness I simply follow what feels right to you, without you having to explain anything.
Material and cleaning
Here there is a real difference, and it is the reason not to buy the cheapest. Silicone, plastic, rubber, latex, glass and metal all occur. Glass and metal are non-porous and can be cleaned completely; soft rubber and cheap latex hold onto more and age visibly.
Watch the transition between bead and cord too. That is the spot where dirt stays behind and where a cheap one gives out. A bead that comes loose while it is inside is exactly the scenario you want to rule out: Dahlberg and colleagues counted in International Journal of Colorectal Disease that sex toys were involved in 41 percent of retained objects in the rectum, with a 17 percent chance of abdominal surgery versus 4 percent for other objects.
